Clare Ryan, Kennel Rubericla, UK

I have been involved with the Staffordshire breed since 2009, so far has taken me through exhibiting, breeding, stewarding and judging.  My husband has owned Staffordshire Bull Terriers since the 1970’s but never showed them.  We jointly bought our 1st Stafford girl Ruby - Lovely Lady Ivey at Rubericla from South Wales in 2009 as a pet.  She was shown lightly later with her progeny and was Crufts qualified in 2014 & 2015.

  

 

 

Ruby gave us our first litter in 2012 and the Rubericla kennel was born and even though our plans were to only keep 1 girl, 1 little boy stole my heart and he just had to stay with us too.  We started showing with the 2 pups in January 2013 when they were just 6 months old and they gave us a journey I will never forget.

  

Ch Rubericla Little Bumblebee - Izzi (3 x CC & 3 x RCC) she achieved her 2nd CC at Crufts 2015 & Best Bitch in Breed which we were greatly honoured to receive.  Ch Rubericla Black Starscream - Tye, (3 x CC & 5 x RCC), Tye was also chosen by the UK Royal Kennel Club to be the representative of the breed in the Breed Standard 2017 book, which was also a great honour for us.  

  

Izzi produced one litter from which we campaigning her daughter Elli - Rubericla Little Elita One. (1 x CC & 1 x RCC).  Also, Izzi's son Blue - Ch Rubericla Trailbreaker (4 x CC, 3 x BOB) he gained his Stud Book Number at Crufts 2017 when he smashed at just 14 months old winning Jr dog class DCC & BOB. He returned to Crufts in 2018 and did it again, winning Limit dog class and DCC.

  

I consider this judging appointment a great honour, I promise my opinion will be straightforward and to give an honest, fair and unbiased opinion with no preference to colour.
